American Academy of Neurology
The American Academy of Neurology is the leading voice in brain health. As the world’s largest association of neurologists and neuroscience professionals with more than 40,000 members, the AAN offers access to continuing education, essential practice tools, research grants, networking and advocacy opportunities, and more. However, the brand expression (last updated 25 years ago) was beginning to feel out-dated and academically "stuffy."
And yet, at its core the AAN is an organization full of life, which is on full display at their annual conferences. Inspired by this commraderie, we developed a new brand identity that captured the energy and impact of the AAN's true culture. We reframed the "neuron" from the previous logo as the magnetic anchor that stands at the heart of all their neurological endeavors. In addition, a new verbal tone of voice could flex between the respected academic rigor and its new public initiative to engage the public. This allows the AAN to stay true to its roots, while expanding its vision to the world at large.
