The Cyber Defense Exercise (CDX) is an annual cybersecurity event for America's top banks and financial institutions to come together and compete – but most importantly, learn from each other. The hack-a-thon simulates real-world scenarios by enabling offensive and defensive security professionals to demonstrate their coding skills by capturing and preventing insecure networks.

We were asked to help take the typically conservative and risk-adverse branding for these large corporations and inject a dynamic, surprising visual identity for all teams to rally behind and celebrate. By developing a flexible graphic system that evoked pathways, arrangements and puzzles, we were able to deliver an experience that was not only functional, but very fun.

We named our new symbol The Code of Arms. An emblem for all participants to defend and honor.
